Wrestling participates in winter invitational

The Ocean Lakes wrestling team finished twelfth in the Mike Duman Toys for Tots Invitational with a final score of 94. The invitational, held from Dec. 20-21 at Ocean Lakes, showcased 33 schools across Virginia.

Individually, four wrestlers from Ocean Lakes placed in the top eight. In their respective weight classes, Liam Murphy came in fifth place, Trenton Campos in fourth, Jake Levine in seventh, and Brandon Frost in seventh.

The Dolphins had a total of 17 pins and 179 match points throughout the tournament. 24 wrestlers competed, contributing to their point total of 94. Alumni volunteers included Marcus Starks, Ben Hilliard, Cameron Chicella, and Jacob Bushey.

“We wrestled hard and we’re doing better every tournament,” said junior Vance Newsome.
