This year’s gymnastics team conditions and learns new routines, hoping to return to States as they did last season.

Senior Rutvi Patel has mixed feelings about this being her last season with the team.

“It’s super sad to think that this season will be my last since I’ve been doing it since I was seven years old,” said Rutvi.

It is also senior Leah Daigneau’s last season competing as well. She describes her feelings as “very upset” because she will miss the team. Last season Leah qualified to compete individually at States.

“It felt great to make it to States, and I was extremely proud of the team,” said Leah.

Junior Deanna Kreider is also returning this season with more determination and hoping to meet her all time goal: states.

“I’m excited for this season because I get to compete all-around,” said Deanna.

If a gymnast competes all-around, it means they perform on the floor, bars, beam, and vault.

Senior Alexis Knudson won first place at regionals last season qualifying for states.

“Winning first place was amazing and it helped me gain confidence,” said Alexis.

Alexis has the potential to win regionals again this season, but that is not the only thing she is excited about.

“I’m excited to be with the team and end my gymnastics career with great people,” said Alexis.

The team will compete against additional schools in their division to move their way to the top, and they compete against their rival, Kellam, on January 22.

“I’m ready for a new year to dominate,” said Rutvi.
