Forensics Club meets every week, and no, they do not talk about dead bodies.
According to Special Ed. teacher and Forensics Club sponsor Jordan Schoonover, “Forensics is public speaking and interpreting text with emotions to arouse feelings in the audience, but it’s also a competition against other schools.”
The club meets weekly to prepare for their annual competition in February where members will compete in many different categories against other Virginia Beach schools. Categories include Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Duo, Storytelling, Poetry, and many more. If a student performs well and places highly, they are given the opportunity to compete at state level and maybe even nationals.
“People should join forensics because it helps with public speaking, which everyone is going to have to do at one point of their lives. It’s also a great way to get involved without giving up too much of your time,” said Schoonover.
Come out for snacks, practice, and more information about the club. They meet every Tuesday in room 145 from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
