Mrs. Fara Wiles, Newspaper Adviser
Fara Wiles, newspaper adviser and journalism teacher, has been with The Current since 2002. She holds a BA from Virginia Tech in English and a minor in communications. She was the poetry editor for Virginia Tech's Silhouette literary magazine and has been an adviser for student publications for over 22 years. Currently, she works as a technical editor for Teksynap, a company that provides information technology services. Prior to Ocean Lakes High School, she pioneered The King's Chronicles student newspaper at Tallwood High School. The staff has grown since 2002, and annually, The Current wins top rating awards from VHSL and the Quill and Scroll International Journalism Honor Society. Last year, the newspaper was awarded the Trophy award, the highest rating VHSL has to offer. For the last three years, olhscurrent.org has earned the SNO Badge of Excellence.
