Gymnastics won their first state title in the Class 6 State Championship. This past weekend, they defeated two-time-defending champion Robinson High School with a first-place finish in all four events and a combined team score of 152.

“I would say that it was the best meet we’ve ever had as a team, and it was a lot of fun as well,” said junior Kara Lee. “When we were out there competing, we made sure to focus on ourselves instead of looking at other teams and how they were doing, which helped control our nerves.”

Eight gymnasts qualified to compete in individual events, including Brooke Gunter and Raleigh Moore, who both earned all-around individual spots. Brooke came in fifth for all-around with a score of 38.025, first on bars with a 9.7, and first on vault with a 9.9. Samantha Lee tied for second on vault with a score of 9.825.

“As a team, we have gotten so close with each other, and I can always count on any of them to have my back and cheer me on when I fall,” said Kara.
