The Black Student Union will partner with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore to hold a food drive from Dec. 1 to Dec. 11, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays at the school.

“We decided to hold a food drive because we want to give back to our community during the stressful times of the pandemic and election to help anyone struggling to make ends meet, especially since Christmas is approaching, and people are in dire need for food,” said Black Student Union president Kalorra Smith.

Students may donate items such as canned vegetables, tuna, soup, pasta, or cereal.

“Anyone (student, parent, teachers, staff members) can donate any canned/non-perishable items until December 11th. The items can be brought to the school and placed in the boxes in front of the school library,” said school counselor Bryan Everett.

“Aiding our community is how we will protect one another during these trying times,” said Kalorra.
