With the Super Bowl featuring the Chiefs and the Buccaneers approaching, the Smoothie Stop Cafe held an appreciation event on Saturday, Feb. 6.  Stepping on the field will be Ocean Lakes alumnus and Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi. Along with lifelong friends he grew up with, Smoothie Stop Cafe wanted to celebrate.

“We wanted to do something for Derrick. His ethics are there, his determination is there, so when we got the call, we just wanted to do something special for him,” said owner Christopher Taylor.

In celebration of the Super Bowl, Smoothie Stop Cafe added two smoothies to their menu, the Chiefs smoothie and the Bucs smoothie. They also have one of their salads as the signature Super Bowl salad. All the money they raise from the Feb. 6 event and Mon., Feb. 8 will be funded to Ocean Lakes High School.

“I couldn’t be happier for him. I love him, and seeing someone I’ve known for so long succeed the way he has, it’s pretty special,” said former teammate Masaddiq Walton.
