A new class has been introduced to the freshmen student body.

With a course that combines English 9 and history into one block, the class aims to help students understand the relationship between historic events and the context of curriculum literature.

“The class creates a fluid understanding on how each subject influences each other,” said Freshman history teacher Lindsey Baker.

The class is specially selected for non-academy students who have a strong foundation in both subjects but may need additional depth.

“[The class] provides enrichment opportunities to take connections from what they learn in class and make them in the real world,” said Gifted Resource teacher Amy Harrell.

Gifted resource teacher Amy Harrell, history teacher Lindsey Baker, and English teacher Elycia Atkinson (left to right) regularly meet to organize and plan lesson plans for this course that will continue in the 2018  – 2018 school year, offering the combination class to both rising sophomores and freshmen.
