Senior Austin Heft narrowed down the decision to run for the University of Charlotte, North Carolina.
“I was also talking to the ECU coach, but UNC Charlotte was my first offer,” said Austin Heft.
She received an offer from a D1 school, but ECU also showed some interest in Heft as well.
“Austin Heft is an outstanding athlete. Since watching her compete her freshman year, the whole team has known that she’d run in college. To us, her recent commit is no surprise,” said teammate Brayden Scharfe.
“I’ve always loved running, but I started running competitively in middle school,” said Heft.
She has won States in both cross country and in track in the 4 x 800 and set the new school record for the 4 x 800.
“Austin has always been one of the most organized kids I’ve ever known, so I wasn’t surprised that she now becomes our earliest commitment ever. Charlotte is definitely a winner in all things. We are all proud and excited,” said coach Mike Nestor.
