Juniors and seniors get ready to dance the night away at ring dance and prom in the spring. Due to COVID-19 last year, Ocean Lakes had neither prom nor ring dance; but, this year Principal Dr. Claire Le Blanc is brought both dances back.
“Ring dance has been so much fun to plan. I am so thankful for Ms. LaRoche and the ring dance committee for every couple of weeks to discuss venues, decorations, food and so much more,” said class of 2023 secretary Gracie Tignor.
Ring dance will take place at the Westin in Town Center on Saturday, April 22, 2022, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The theme, chosen by the class of 2023, is a starry night. The other themes consisted of Hollywood and a night in the Parthenon.
“Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we haven’t been able to do much fundraising. However, we have done a few including Class of 2023 merch sales and cashola. We have a few fundraisers planned in the upcoming months, but more information coming soon,” said Gracie.
Ticket prices for ring dance have been posted on the ‘2023 Instagram but they may be subject to change. As for right now, the price is $70 per ticket and a $5 service fee. In-person ticket sales will be on March 2, 3 and 4, and online sales will be available from March 2 to March 25 on the Ocean Lakes website.
“The Ring Dance ticket prices are based on the amount of money we have raised and how much the dance itself will cost,” said Gracie.
As of right now, the destination for the prom will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The theme, chosen by the class of 2022, will be enchanted forest.
“Currently we have a venue and we are creating decorations, working on ticket sales and looking at different catering options,” said Class of 2022 member Naya Thompson.
Ticket prices have been decided at $75 and students will be able to pay with cash or check. As of right now, tickets can be purchased online and in person throughout March.
“Students can get more information about prom by following the class of 2022 on Instagram @olhs22, joining our Schoology group, or asking our advisor or officers,” said Class of 2022 secretary Isabelle Westlake.
