This year’s chapter of National Honor Society partners with Red Cross to bring a blood drive to Ocean Lakes. The theme is “Be a Lifesaver,” referencing the late 70’s candy, Lifesavers.
The blood drive will be held on Dec. 19, 2023, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the library.
“We’ve been working really hard since the beginning of the year to plan the event,” said senior Hailey Bombard. “This is the first year we are giving out goodie bags. We wanted to do something more fun and rewarding for the people who are donating blood.”
QR codes have been posted around the school with a link to the Signup Genius, which has slots every 15 minutes. Students must be at least 17 years of age to donate, and there will be a photo booth for donors to enjoy.
“We are super excited to host this blood drive and can’t wait to see everyone be a lifesaver,” said senior Sofia Pescoso.
Students will be taught about the importance and process of giving blood.
“I hope to have students who graduate understanding the importance of donating blood and that they will continue to donate as adults,” said Allison Graves.
