Varsity baseball is now in season and recently had their first scrimmage against Clover Hill High School on March 4, 2024, where they won with a shutout of 6-0.
¨The game went great. We have some things we need to work on, but we always do. Considering it was our first scrimmage, it went well,¨ said junior Ryan Gocio.
The team has been working year-round to prepare for this year’s season by practicing six days a week, averaging two and a half to three hours a day on top of outside training to regain and enhance their skill sets.
¨Our big thing before the season was how we were going to produce offense, how can we move runners efficiently, and how to get runners across, that is the key to having a successful year,¨ said senior Colin Benson.
The Dolphins have a heavy season ahead of them taking on schools such as Bayside High School, Cox High School, and First Colonial High School, who were all ranked top three in the beach district last year with Ocean Lakes coming in fourth.
¨This year will be a lot different from last year since we lost most of our pitching staff from the previous year. Mostly our entire lineup is coming back from last year, so we will be a much more offensive team rather than last year’s being more defensive,¨ said sophomore Connor Mais.
