Coming off last season’s record of 12-7, the girls volleyball team remains ready to take the court.
The team is led by seniors Kayla Bennett, Nora Costello, Isabella Grundy, Tessa Kurz, Addison Sasnet and Kylie Sutton. Each of these girls set a positive tone on the court, according to sophomore Kennedy Walls.
“The seniors are definitely a huge part of the Ocean Lakes volleyball team when it comes to leadership and experience,” said Kennedy. “They support each of us [with] any obstacles throughout the season that can be hard to overcome.”
The girls have dedicated hours of time and energy to volleyball over the summer, working on a variety of things to improve their teamwork and skills.
“We had a couple of open gyms over the summer,” said head coach Christina Barnhart. “We had two strong weeks of preseason.”
On Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, Ocean Lakes started their season on a high note, defeating Grassfield High School at home with a final score of 3-0.
The team has high expectations for the remainder of their 2024 season.
“Our shared bond is extremely significant to the way our team is organized. This group of girls has [great] potential,” said Kennedy.
