Asian Culture Club recently held their second meeting of the year.
“I was hoping to show more cultural appreciation and awareness for Asian culture and countries, and how they compare to how we live here,” club president Joshua Ng said.
Alongside Josh, the club is run by all juniors: vice president Mia Ordonez, treasurer Justin Salvador and historian Brie Gesick.
The all-inclusive environment provides everybody with different backgrounds to join and learn more about each other in the Ocean Lakes community.
“I wanted to meet new people and more Koreans since they are not very common in Virginia Beach,” freshman Chris Pak said.
Over 30 people attend the club from a range of diverse heritage.
“I hoped to meet diverse people and learn more about the people of my culture since I moved to America at such a young age,” Chris said.
The Asian culture club community makes it more than just a club by constantly playing games such as Kahoot to win different types of Asian food. With many different snacks to try and enjoy such as Asian noodles, Moon Pies and popcorn, the perspectives were taught in many different ways.
The classroom was filled with many students eager to learn. People of different backgrounds, ethnicities and ages filled every seat in the room.
“My friends and I meet here during the club and it is a really fun time,” junior Keagan Hall said.
