Dolphin Dash Student Crew and Ocean Lakes Theatre Company (OLTC) will collaborate to put on this year’s talent show, with the theme “We’re Back: The OL Talent Show Returns.”
The event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, and it will last around 90 minutes. It will feature a total of 17 student acts with no intermission.
Tickets will be $9 for students and $10 for adults. Half of the proceeds from the event this year will go to Connect-With-A-Wish, which supports foster children in the area, and the other half will help fund the OLTC.
“Even if we make $1,000, that’d be wonderful,” Dolphin Dash sponsor Shirley Hall said.
The talent show returns after COVID-19 shutdowns led it to be canceled in 2020 and subsequent years. Before the break, the show was a time-honored tradition directed by OLTC director and theatre teacher Claude Blanchard.
“The talent show was originally produced at OLHS from 2005-2020; I directed all 15 with Mrs. Geri-Lynn Ewald,” Blanchard said.
As part of the show, the OLHS Royalty Step Team will be performing, as well as the FinHarmonix.
“We are going to do a step, chant and dance,” freshman and Step Team member Gabrielle Conduah said.
The MC’s for the production will be members of the OLTC Executive Board.
“People can expect lots of entertaining acts, and a show they will never forget,” senior and OLTC Executive Board president Andrew Friedman said.
