For many people, working out is just a hobby. For senior Jaxon Vizzi, it is his job and passion.
Vizzi has accumulated over 55,000 followers on Instagram by posting workouts and diet advice. He also promotes his online coaching business, where he creates diet plans and exercise routines aligned with his clients’ goals. He gives his clients 24/7 access to him via phone, allowing them to ask all sorts of questions regarding their fitness goals.
Vizzi played baseball from the age of six until his freshman year of high school, but ended up quitting before his sophomore year in order to commit his time to lifting.
As Vizzi’s lifting progressed, he developed a skill and love for coaching people in the gym. Around the same time, he was looking for a way to make money online. After lots of trial and error, he brainstormed the idea of coaching others in the gym. Vizzi set off to build a coaching brand on social media. He started off posting over six videos a day, which fueled his childhood dream of making content.
“Ever since I was a kid, I always watched YouTube and wanted to be a content creator,” Vizzi said. “I think most kids did as well, but I had a skill. I took action and am making the most of it.”
Many teens struggle with social anxiety and fears of being judged; however, Vizzi does not let other’s doubts consume him.
“I don’t care what any of my peers think. Their opinions don’t fuel my future,” Vizzi said, “Some people told me to quit, so I literally just stopped talking to them all together. I cannot afford the negative energy draining me mentally.”
Since coaching is not the typical high school job, Vizzi faces certain challenges.
“Time management [is hard]. [It’s] definitely a grind to get home from school and still work another six to eight hours,” Vizzi said. “I’ve had nights where I was up until 2 to 3 a.m., because work had to get done.”
While Vizzi does most of the hard work himself, he has some help from his younger brother, freshman Eli Vizzi. Eli helps him with the filming of Vizzi’s business.
“I record just about all of his videos for him where he is at the gym,” Eli said.
With the support of his family and friends as well as his strong work ethic, Vizzi is confident in his abilities to successfully train people and help them reach their goals.
“As long as they listen to me, it’s basically impossible for them to not reach their goals,” Vizzi said.
