The partial solar eclipse will take place the morning of March 29, 2025. The moon will pass directly in between the Earth and Sun, but not completely cover the Sun’s disk. This means the sky will appear darker than usual for an hour that day.
A bright sliver of light will shine due to the moon’s poor alignment. Eye protection is required when setting foot outside, and never look directly at the sun directly.
The eclipse can be observed anywhere outdoors in Virginia Beach at 7 a.m., best viewed from the east.
“Mt. Trashmore could be a good place, but I told my students to go to the oceanfront. You have to be there before sunrise,” astronomy teacher Bailey Hennessey said, “It is not likely that we will see much if any at all, but I encouraged my students to go to check it out; I gave them solar glasses to protect their eyes.”
