Every two to three years, AP Human Geography students are granted the opportunity to travel to a new country and explore cities, landmarks and museums.
Through June 26 to July 6, 2026, selected students from Ocean Lakes have the chance to travel across the world to London, Paris and Berlin over the course of 11 days. History teachers will attend the trip and act as chaperones for students. In every city, a tour guide will be with the group throughout the day to show specific destinations, sights and monuments within the area.
AP Human Geography teacher Stasia LaRoche recommends students attend the trip because they get a great experience to see other cultures, meet people and try new foods.
To attend, students are required to meet with LaRoche and pay over $5,000, which includes several expenses of the trip like flights, food, hotels and entry fees.
However, the trip cost does not include the fees of a passport which is necessary to enter the countries. Students who may need financial assistance can search for specific scholarships, which allow them to travel abroad; one source is Financial Aid for International Students.
An informational meeting for parents and students will take place, but the date is to be determined.
“I find that by the end of the trips, kids are talking about how much more they either better understand and appreciate their own culture, or how cool they think it is that there are so many different things out there [in the world],” LaRoche said.
