Ocean Lakes’ third annual dodgeball tournament was hosted by the Student Council Association (SCA), inviting students of all grades to participate.
“I am looking forward to participating in a friendly competition in an activity that is not typically a school sport,” sophomore and dodgeball tournament team captain Stone Wagner said.
The tournament was held during One Lunch on March 14, March 21, and the all-school spring sports assembly on March 28, 2025.
Eight teams participated in the competition, with team captains responsible for the team name.
“I decided to participate as soon as I saw the flyers for it,” Stone said. “I knew it was going to be a really fun event that I could do with my friends, plus I could meet new people and support the SCA.”
Teams played eight games on March 14 and March 21, with the two squads with the best records playing during the spring assembly.
The tournament’s winner was the Twisted Chickens, after out-matching the Co-ed Crushers in a best-of-three series 2-1.
“I am excited to compete and potentially win the tournament. I feel like my team has a chance to win it all,” sophomore and dodgeball tournament participant Emerson Woodward said.
Participants of the tournament enjoyed the camaraderie of the competition.
“My favorite part [of the tournament] was the camaraderie teams feel with each other whether they win or lose, as everyone knows it is all about having fun and the friendly competition is great.”
The contest dates back to 2022 when an all-freshman Twisted Chickens team won the first annual Dolphin Dodgeball Tournament.
“I thought it would be a fun and entertaining experience with my friends,” Emerson said.
