New York City, known as the city that never sleeps, is one of the most vibrant locations for a field trip. It’s a fascinating metropolis that is a melting pot for all kinds of cultures and a hub of arts and innovation.
Dolphins took this trip to the Big Apple, leaving at midnight on April 8 and returning in the late evening of April 11, 2025.
This year’s trip included art and photography classes, as well as the new addition of AP Literature classes.
On the first day, students visited the famous 129-year-old New York Public Library, shopped around Rockefeller Center and ended the night with the Broadway show of The Great Gatsby.
“The musical was such a surreal moment to experience; witnessing it in person was very different from watching the movie on television and reading the book,” senior Ben Tignor said.
With each event-filled day, students also had free time to tour the city by themselves.
“With my free time, the first thing I did was to go and get a 99-cent piece of pizza,” senior Chase Bonfliglio said.
On the second day, students walked the highline, an old elevated freight rail turned into a public park with incredible scenery of West Side Manhattan.
“It was such a beautiful park; although it was a little busy, the scenery was so pretty and allowed us to take some great pictures,” senior Tessa Kurz said.
The Dolphins then went on to shop again at Chelsea Market, explore Mercer Labs and end their night with a dinner cruise on the Hudson River.
For the last day, the students went to SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, which is atop Midtown Manhattan’s tallest skyscraper which gives students an amazing skyline view of the city.
Afterward, they finished up their trip at Times Square, where they got to experience what truly makes New York City one of the most famous places in the world.
“This field trip is easily one of the coolest things I have done, and I recommend it for those who can go to do it,” Tignor said.
