Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day invites children from ages eight to eighteen to spend the day with their parents at Ocean Lakes.
Thursday, April 24, 2025, marks the date for the tradition. Various staff members were able to bring their children under eight, not wanting them to miss out on the fun-filled day.
English teacher Carol Buckley was excited to bring her six-year-old daughter with her for the first time.
“She actually had the best time,” Buckley said. “She just really liked how everyone was so friendly.”
Some of the kids spent their day with their parents, watching them teach.
Christina and Christopher Barnhart’s children, Campbell and Cole, engaged with physical education students in the mat room by playing soccer and other activities.
“I begged and pleaded, and [LeBlanc] finally gave in,” Christina Barnhart said. “I was fortunate that both Campbell and Cole were able to last year.”
The library was filled with activities for the kids to fill the time with. SCA General Assembly provided volunteers to help in the library throughout the day.
“It was fun to see what Elizabeth Boys did, and what I did [with the children],” culinary teacher Brooks Holuka said. “It was very different.”
