The new Tomodachi Life game, “Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream” brings promise of new, long-awaited features and it looks incredible.
“Tomodachi Life” is a game where players create and take care of characters called “Miis” on an island. Islanders can interact with others by becoming friends, as well as with the player by playing games or asking for items.
There are different shops for food, clothes and rooms that rotate items daily and events that happen around the island.
The trailer for the new “Tomodachi Life” shows that the Miis are now able to be seen outside of buildings on the island and have new interactions with other Miis, such as dancing or being in big groups. Some other features that players are most excited for are more customization options in regards to the characters, same-sex relationships and new buildings on the island.
Nintendo had previously promised to add gay relationships in 2014, according to NBC News, so it looks like the company held up that promise.
Additionally, the island is now flat, as opposed to the layered island that were seen in the original game, leaving people to wonder if the island will be customizable. With this open environment, the Miis will be able to roam and have new interactions with the environment as well as other characters.
More minor changes that have been seen in the trailers are visible ears, house plots and better graphics.
With the original game having around 6.72 million copies sold, the new addition should be a huge hit. Even now, the original “Tomodachi Life” sells for over $200 on eBay.
“Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream” will be released in 2026 on the Nintendo Switch, and will most likely be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2.
