Boys and girls soccer celebrated their senior night in a spirited ceremony that honored 18 student athletes. The boys secured a 2-0 victory against Granby High School, ending a successful regular season.
Among the girls, nine seniors were recognized including captains Avery Hunn and Marlie Smith, as well as Madison Moore, Sam Grimes, Sierra Edney, Grace Schmitt, Chloe McCall, Gabby Koleva and Vivian Wolfe.
On the boys side, captains Taden Domanski, Kaden Pratt and Anthony Liberatore were celebrated, along with Mason Howlin, Bryce Phillips, David Suiter, Tucker Gates, Gian Marrero and Evan Grabarczyk.
Anthony and sophomore Lukas Leach scored the two game-winning points for the Dolphins.
“I am glad we finished with the win over Granby, it is a nice way to end the regular season,” Anthony said. “As a team, we played really well moving the ball around and communicating well. I am very pleased with how the boys played last night.”
The senior night celebration, previously scheduled for May 13, was moved to May 21, 2025, due to inclement weather. While only the boys had a game scheduled for this day, the girls made the most of the evening by having a team scrimmage and cookout after the ceremony.
“The scrimmage was so much fun and I am glad we were given the opportunity to hold something together for senior night,” Vivian said. “It is always a blessing to play with these girls and I would not want to share the field with anyone else.”
Both boys and girls are ending the regular season with outstanding records. The girls are currently ranked number two in Region 5A, with a record of 14-3. Similarly, boys are ending their season in the second seed, and a 12-3-2 record.
“Being on the soccer team has truly been one of the best experiences of the year. I am really going to miss all of the seniors, they made this season so much more special and fun,” freshman Sydney Hunn said. “What I will miss most is their energy, they show up to practice and games with such a positive attitude everyday, and it always lifts the whole team.”
Both teams will advance to regionals at home. The boys will take on Cox High School on May 28, while the girls will follow on May 29, 2025, against Princess Anne High School.
“This season has treated us so well,” David said. “It has been an honor to play with such a great group of talented players, and finishing strong on senior night was everything I could have asked for.”
