The OLHS SCA has officially sponsored the first spirit week of the school year. Old and new students eagerly await for the schoolwide event held from Sep. 2 to Sep. 5.
“I’m excited to build bonds with classmates for the upcoming spirit week,” sophomore Kenny Leon said.
Spirit week will begin with Disney Day on Sep. 2, with students dressing up as their favorite Disney character. Sep. 3 includes Sport Day, where students can dress up as their favorite sport.
Sep. 4 includes a Surf vs. Turf Day, focusing on dressing up in beach or country clothing.
“I’m most looking forward to the Surf vs. Turf Day because I get to dress up in tropical clothing,” junior Maddy Hoffman said.
The final part of the SCA-sponsored event will be on Sep. 5, where students wear OL merch and colors for the very first all-school assembly of the year.
While many students are looking forward to the spirit week, others find the assembly most exciting.
“I’m most excited for the spirit run [during the school assembly] because you get to show off your pride for your class,” junior Rowan Smith said. “It really shows incoming students what Ocean Lakes is all about.”
