On Oct. 7, alternative rock duo Twenty One Pilots made their way in Virginia Beach as part of “The Clancy Tour: Breach” in support of their album of the same name.

“Breach,” a followup to the bands 2024 album “Clancy,” was released earlier this year, concluding the band’s over ten yearlong lore.

Throughout the concert were callbacks to characters and moments throughout the story.

In the show’s midsection, the duo made their way to a B-stage located in the amphitheater’s lawn where they lit a car on fire as lead singer and guitarist Tyler Joseph covered his neck and hands with black paint.

This is in reference to the end of the “Heavy Dirty Soul” music video and beginning of the “Jumpsuit” music video as Nico flees from his imprisonment.

However, despite the tour revolving around the plotline that pervades their more recent music, the set list told a different story with a whopping nine songs from “Blurryface,” an over ten year old album, dominating.

Although this is rather understandable, as the album is the band’s most popular work with over eight billion streams on Spotify alone.

Despite the setlist’s evident favoritism, the tracks from “Blurryface” made for some of the concert’s more memorable moments.

A personal favorite is their performance of “Tear in My Heart,” which included an interactive sing-off between the duo’s two sides of the crowd.

Furthermore, the two Grammy winners incorporated an impressive amount of crowd work, including Joseph rapping alongside a group of fans dressed as the band’s character Ned.

In general, Twenty One Pilots “The Clancy Tour: Breach” was by far one of the most exhilarating concerts I’ve ever been to, ending with a bittersweet kiss as the duo left the stage quoting their famous slogan “We’re Twenty One Pilots and so are you.”
