Marching bands from across the city performed in Battle of the Bands at Princess Anne High School on Wednesday.

Highlights of the highly anticipated event include musical artists Pharell Williams and Chad Hugo, who were recognized for their efforts in youth music in the area. Williams was also presented the key to the city by Mayor Bobby Dyer.

Eight high school bands performed songs, such as “Hollaback Girl,” “Milkshake,” “Drop it Like it’s Hot,” and “Virginia.”

Williams, Hugo, and more popular artists also perform this weekend at Something’s in The Water music festival at the Oceanfront.

“During the Battle of the Bands, I watched Chad, who was a producer, song writer, singer, and composer, who received the key to the city from the mayor,” said freshman Katelyn Farrer.
