Last weekend the girls volleyball team took home five wins and a tournament victory at the Virginia Volleyball Showcase in Richmond. They shutout schools such as Charles J. Colgan, George Marshall, and Warhill. The Dolphins also shutout Salem in their season opener three days prior to the tournament.

“During the tournament, we definitely had high energy the whole weekend,” said senior Haven McPeek. “We never let a ball drop, and that carried our momentum start to finish.”

The girls then defeated First Colonial in the semi-final and moved on to play 6A rival Kellam.

“Our toughest match at [the] showcase was Kellam. We played them in the finals after having a morning wave of games so both of us were exhausted, but we kept the energy and came out on top,” said Haven.

After six straight wins, the girls suffered their first loss against First Colonial on Tuesday. Their next match is on Sept. 17 against Grassfield at Ocean Lakes.
