Student leaders from all 11 high schools across the beach came together Sept. 18 at Kempsville High School to collaborate on organizational tactics and to meet others.

Citywide leadership forums are sponsored by the Citywide SCA that was elected at Virginia Beach Leadership Workshop this past July, with Mae Mendoza, senior, serving as chairman.

Each meeting has a theme where they encourage participation; this Wednesday’s was school spirit wear, with an optional school shirt exchange that followed.

Citywide takes place once a quarter, rotating its location over a three-year timeline.

“[Citywide] is something that is open for all students to attend, not just those currently active in their SCA, as we are hoping all students can help develop their leadership skills and learn to ideas while networking with other students. Everyone is welcome, and we hope that many more will get involved,” said Carlin Conoway, SCA advisor.

The next meeting will take place on Dec. 11 at Green Run High School.
