Mrs. Fara Wiles, Newspaper Adviser
Fara Wiles, newspaper adviser and journalism teacher, has been with The Current since 2002.
She holds a BA in English and a minor in communications from Virginia Tech. She has advised award-winning, high school publications for over 25 years, both at Tallwood and Ocean Lakes High School. She was Rookie Teacher of the Year for Tallwood High School when its doors first opened and has been awarded a Distinguished Educator at Ocean Lakes High School.
Under her guidance, the staff has grown since 2002, from five students to over 50 students, and The Current wins Trophy and first place rating awards each year from VHSL. The Trophy award is the highest rating a student newspaper can receive.
