DECA is an international association of high school and college students and teachers of marketing, management, entrepreneurship, finance, hospitality, and other business areas.

High school seniors Sam Libasci and C.J. Reed created a block during 3A specifically for running the school store and organizing the club’s events.

“We collaborate together to maintain and update the school store, as well as plan and take care of all DECA-related events,” said Sam.

As co-president of the club, Sam is in charge of the school store, designing the clothes and keeping inventory. C.J. is in charge of the fundamentals of DECA and helping prepare for competitions.

The club goes to competitions three times a year: district, state, and nationals. The school store was certified with the gold standard, which allows for competition at states and internationals.

“Sophomore year I got third at districts, seventh at states, and then 71st at the international,” said C.J. “Junior year I tied for first at districts, got fourth at states, and then 24th at internationals.”
