Boys and girls swim teams are ready to bounce back and prove they are ready to take home the win once again this coming November.

While following COVID-19 guidelines, the teams started practice at the Seatack Recreation Center. Swim interest meetings started back in September, and practices began Nov. 8.  Their first meet will be held Fri., Dec. 3.

Coach Andy Bedinger has high hopes that this season will be a smooth success.

“I expect something close to normal. We are all used to masks and offer measures to prevent spreading the virus. I don’t know for sure yet but, our swimmers have a high vaccination rate, which will help prevent both sickness and quarantine situations,” said Bedinger.

Swimmers and coaches are still adjusting to the newer rules and regulations put in place by the CDC. Criteria, such as team size, being mindful in the pool, and especially mindful on the pool deck, are some of the concerns. Between the girls and boys, they can roster approximately 45 members total, including the dive team.

“I  think this season will be extremely fun, and I am super excited; the girls should do well given that most of us are year-round swimmers for out of school clubs. There are so many new faces, and I can’t wait to bond and have a good season with them,” said swimmer Rania Jacob.
