As prom and ring dance approach, the race for the right dress begins. Dress shops in Virginia Beach have been busier with people looking for the right attire.

Some of the most popular in-store shops are Altar’d State, Windsor, Macy’s, Dillard’s, OnlineFormals and All the Rage.

“I got my prom dress at Online Formals. I enjoyed getting it from there because everyone was super nice and extremely helpful in picking a dress out. The workers also didn’t try to pressure me into buying a dress that day, which was nice and gave me some comfort if I couldn’t find one I loved,” said senior Riley Allen.

Windsor is the cheapest option, however, the dresses will have a decrease in quality. If better quality but a little pricier is what you prefer, then Altar’d State, Macy’s and Dillard’s are the places to go. For the best quality but most expensive, All the Rage will be the spot to shop.

Windsor has anywhere from long ballgowns to tight cocktail dresses. Altar’d State has very bohemian and simple dresses. Lastly, Macy’s and Dillard’s have similar long and short dress options.

“My dress was from Dillard’s at Lynnhaven mall. I had seen a lot of dresses there that I liked but they were a little more expensive, but still definitely worth the money,” said junior Lexi Zettervall.

As online fashion and shopping have grown, more and more dresses have begun to be ordered compared to earlier years when online shopping was not as popular. Some online stores are Lucy in the Sky, Lulus and Hebeos. They all have many styles and lengths to choose from.

“I got my dress online and it came through the mail from Lucy in the Sky. I love the dress and it fits really well. With shopping online I would recommend being prepared to hem or tailor the dress,” said senior Isabelle McGrath.
