Kayla Rockhill, Ava Estes, Jordan Turner, and Maggie Reed accept their certificates on May 24, 2022 at the School Board Meeting.

A VBCPS program gave interning students a “job scholarship” as the school year closes. Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow is a program in which students can intern as student teachers and gain experience for their future careers in education.
As seniors end their journey in the program they could apply for a contract in which the City of Virginia Beach will grant them a teaching job once they gain their teaching license and degree.
In order to get this opportunity, the students had to complete their internship, create a teaching portfolio with essays and blogs based on their experience in the classroom and the lesson plans they execute. Next, they had to interview for the “job” with Dr.LeBlanc, a guidance counselor and two teachers.
“My favorite part is the time I got to spend in the classroom actually teaching. It assured my desire to teach when I’m older,” said Maggie Reed.
