Fans have high expectations for the new Avatar movie “Avatar: The Way of Water”. On Dec. 16, 2022, this movie will hit theaters, taking place a decade later; starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana from the original 2009 movie.

“I loved the first avatar movie and I am super thrilled about the new movie,” said astronomy teacher Michelle Bailey-Hennessey.

From the plot, characters and computer graphic imagery (CGI) all fans are excited to watch. The setting is mostly underwater as opposed to the original being in the jungle; however, it will still be on the same planet, Pandora. Jason Guerrasio, a reporter from Insider, states that it will be based around the family of the main characters: Jake Sully and Neytiri.

According to Insider.com, “We’re pushing those limits even further with 3D with high dynamic range, with high frame rate, higher resolution, and much greater reality in our visual effects,” said director James Cameron.

In Avatar, an eye-catcher was a whole new reality created through CGI. The audience was amazed by its attention to detail not only of the characters but of the scenery.

“The first one is hard to beat with its good CGI and overall is a great movie,” said junior Logan Bivins.

Now fans want to know the director’s plans after this movie is released. Guerrasio says if all goes well, Cameron’s layout includes another three movies every two years, keeping the same plot line through each one, carrying on the legacy of the Navi.

“The original Avatar movie was great, and I would definitely recommend it, especially if you like people swinging in the jungle,” said senior Skylar Garvey.
