Chemistry club members Yuna Pak and Iana Niknezhad lead the meeting by talking about various crystalline structures afterschool on Nov. 8 in room 230.

Several crystal ornaments were grown at the Chemistry club meeting this past week, during a winter-themed workshop. On Nov. 8, along with mixing all the ingredients and molding the ornaments, students learned about crystalline structures.

“My favorite part was watching people make their own ornament shapes, it was very fun seeing what everyone came up with. Also, seeing how our members can apply chemistry knowledge to fun lab activities is amazing,” said Chemistry club member Jenny Vu.

This was only one of the several student-led workshops that Chemistry club has held so far.

“In the past, we’ve made “silver-plated” ornaments, done “firework” flame tests and watched color changing reactions,” said Jenny.
