Dolphins welcome new Student Activities Coordinator Eric Blackmore into the POD.
“I love OL because when I arrived, nobody resisted me, my ideas or my ways; there was trust,” said Blackmore.
As the Student Activities Coordinator, Blackmore manages logistics for athletic and non-athletic events, markets the school to our communities and helps to promote clubs and teams to the student body.
“I see Mr. Blackmore at every one of my home games, and it honestly makes me feel supported because he’s always there on the sideline,” said senior Peyton Staub.
According to Blackmore, no day is ever the same. He could watch the One Act play one day, then spend all day outside moving from one postseason event to another.
“I am overwhelmed by the loyalty that the students, staff, and admin have for this school,” said Blackmore. “I have worked at four high schools and OLHS has traditions I have not witnessed before.”
Before OL, Blackmore coached varsity soccer at Cox High School for 23 years. The coaching mentality he possesses allows him to mentor new and young coaches, bounce ideas with veteran coaches, and even teach life skills through the programs, clubs and activities he supports.
“Mr. Blackmore is a great addition to Ocean Lakes, he works hard to ensure teams have the resources they need in order to be successful,” said assistant student activities coordinator Lauren Logan.
