National Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day was held on April 25, 2024, held on the fourth Thursday of every April.
This year’s theme, “Inspire 2 Aspire,” instills a mindset that children can choose their own future, according to the Take Our Daughter and Sons To Work Day Official.
As a result, multiple activities were planned for Ocean Lakes faculty’s kids throughout the day, including but not limited to foreign language teacher Gloria Rosado’s child learned how an engine works by taking it apart with STEM teacher Scott Sonier; some kids learned how to make candy DNA models with biology teacher Elizabeth Boys; some participated in a photography challenge with photography teacher Alissa McCullough.
Ocean Lakes students collaborated with their teacher’s kids, such as completing a Jamestown flag for history teacher Heath Boomer’s daughter, Samantha, playing volleyball or playing Gimkits with economics teacher Christina Barnhart’s two sons, Cole and Campbell.
“The best part about bringing my boys to school was sharing them with all of my students and watching them interact,” said Barnhart. “It was such a fulfilling experience having them with me all day.”
