With the school year coming to a close, final assessments begin.
Students take final assessments at the end of every school year or semester for 4×4 classes. Seniors will take finals from June 3 through June 7, 2024, while underclassmen will take them from June 10 until June 14, 2024.
However, not all students are required to take their finals. Any non-seniors may be exempt from an assessment if they have an “A” average in a class. Seniors may be exempt if they have a “B” average or better in a class.
Despite this, a student may still elect to take their final assessment to raise their grade.
“Exams can change borderline grades,” said administrative assistant Jessica Pagan. “If a student is between a B and a C, they can raise that grade to a B [for the final grade] by doing well on the exam.”
During the underclassmen’s testing week, there will be an adjusted schedule (as seen in the diagram).
“The adjusted schedule is so students can focus on the one or two exams they are having,” said school counselor Sara White. “This way they don’t have to interrupt their focus on those exams.”
