Ocean Lakes, with the help of Counselor Sara White, will host representatives from an array of colleges and universities for seniors to discuss with in interactive panel sessions.
The dates of these college visits range from Sept. 9 to Nov. 19, 2024.
Each college is provided 45 minutes to introduce students to their school and discuss the opportunities available at their college.
“Students learn about degree programs offered, financial aid, campus life, classes and so much more,” White said. “Attending an info session shows demonstrated interest and allows the representative to put a face to a name on an application.”
College visits are beneficial because they give students an insight into what they should expect in college life, according to senior Lileigh Hall, who attended six college representative visits last year.
“It has definitely given me a lot to think about in terms of what each college has to offer in weighing my pros and cons,” Lileigh said.
As of Sept. 13, 2024, 21 college representatives have signed up to hold sessions in the schola.
“The representatives were very helpful. They helped me determine what I needed to do to get into college,” senior Samantha Grimes said.
Juniors and seniors can sign up for a college representative visit by completing the form given to them through Canvas. Once they sign up, they will receive a paper pass from the counseling office on the morning of the visit. Flyers are posted throughout the building with a QR code.
