Students took part in a variety of activities in German clubs’ first meeting.
Jesse Boyd, a first-year German teacher at Ocean Lakes, led the inaugural event.
“It was a much larger turn-out than I expected,” said Boyd. “In future club meetings, we will learn about different parts of the culture like foods and drinks.”
The meeting included a diverse range of both German and American games, such as Mau-Mau, Catan, Monopoly and SchokoHexe. Students also learned common German expressions while gaming and explored Germany’s contributions toward tabletop gaming throughout history.
The next meeting date has yet to be determined.
“I really enjoyed playing Catan and other games with friends from my [German] class and spending time with my friends who are not in my class,” junior Colin Gregory said. “I also enjoyed learning about German games and some of the history.”
