As winter advances, the basketball team continues to work hard for the 2024-2025 season. This year, the team will focus on making changes towards their offense and overall game plan, according to sophomore Zak Kain.
“I am super excited and am eager to see how much we’ve progressed since last year, and even since the beginning of summer workouts,” Zak said. “I think that we have [a great amount] of talent on the team and can’t wait to shock some of our opponents this year.”
Preparation and teamwork have been the biggest contributing factors to the Dolphins’ progression, according to the team. The team uses multiple tactics including team bonding, lengthy conditioning practices and film studying to outplay and prepare for the season. Focusing on important traits such as readiness and teamwork, the team has been able to utilize these abilities to help them succeed.
“I have [plenty] of hope for my team. We are confident, and we need to stay confident,” junior Trey Massey said. “I expect [much] from them from the classroom to the court and at home.”
Hard work throughout practices is a big factor in OL basketball’s success, according to Coach Aaron.
“We definitely have changed our way of improving; as for conditioning, we have hit the weight room more than we did last year and [are] beginning to do timed miles to track everyone’s progress and to get conditioned. We have also implemented different offensive and defensive strategies,” Zak said.
Improvement has become another major focus of the team according to Coach Aaron. They implemented new drills and routines in hopes of improving their shooting skills. In one shooting drill, ODU, they ran around the 3-point line and shot the ball from each side of the hoop.
“It’s going to be a long season, the beach is very competitive this year in between Salem, Tallwood, Landstown, and Kellam,” Trey said. “[However], I feel like we can come together and make the playoffs and win [multiple games].’’
