After finishing second in the beach district with a record of 15-2 in the 2023-2024 season, the softball team has high expectations for what is to come.
After suffering only four overall losses last season, the team still has a hunger for victory.
“I am excited about this team,” school security officer and assistant coach Jay Seacrist said. “I am proud of all the hard work they have put in over the off-season.”
Players worked tediously over the offseason, from strength and conditioning to hitting in the cage.
“We truly worked hard over the off-season, and feel prepared,” junior Desiraye Taylor said. “We are lucky to be surrounded by such a smart, supportive coaching staff.”
Though feeling prepared and ambitious for a successful season, a solid schedule lies ahead. The team will encounter tough opponents and rivals along the road to victory, such as Cox High School on April, 1, 2025, and Kellam High School on April 24, 2025.
“We have a tough schedule this season, but so do other teams,” Seacrist said. “The 757 is loaded with softball talent, which makes every game a challenge.”
The team got off on the right foot, with a 7-1 victory over First Colonial High School, and a 11-0 victory over Tallwood.
“It was truly a team victory,” junior Gracie Wilson said, who added three runs batted in to the team’s victory. “Everybody came ready to win,” Gracie said.
