Girls tennis began their season on March 18, 2025, with a home game win against Oscar Smith High School.
The team is led by senior captains Sophia Tanenggee and Urvi Jain and coached by Spanish teacher Eric Jaworski.
“We are looking forward to keeping up our winning streak so far, getting to know our new players, as well as working towards making it to states,” junior Kasia Skurzak said.
They practice every weekday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., on the Ocean Lakes tennis courts as they work towards maintaining consistency, high levels of energy and improving shot techniques like forehand, backhand and serves.
They defeated Oscar Smith with a score of 9-0, and won 8-1 against Western Branch following a 6-3 win against Great Bridge, making them currently undefeated.
Last year the team was ranked No. 1 in the Beach District with a 13-0 record.
“With consistency and practicing with this year’s new rankings, our team will hopefully be back at states again this year,” Kasia said.
