After starting the season unranked, girls soccer has made it to the regional playoffs and is ranked fourth in the Beach region, according to 757 Soccer Chat.
The first round of the Class 5 Region A playoffs took place on May 29, 2025, where the Dolphins took on Princess Anne High School. The game ended with a decisive victory for the team, defeating the Cavaliers 8-0.
“The game against Princess Anne was a great confidence booster to start the playoffs,” sophomore Hailey Macgregor said. “Now we are all trying to focus on the next game.”
In their most important match of the season, the girls took on Kempsville High School in the regional semi-finals on June 3, 2025, where, after being tied for four overtimes, they won 4-3 in penalty kicks. With this, they officially qualified for states for the second year in a row and the third time in school history.
The team took on Kellam High School on April 25, 2025, where they lost a competitive match 2-0.
Despite the tough loss, the girls had confidence heading into the region finals on June 5, 2025.
“Although we lost to them last game, we believe we’re hungrier than them and can win this year’s regionals,” junior Anna Wiggins said.
Although they took a 3-0 loss in the region finals, the girls will move into the state tournament and hope to bring home the first state championship in school history.
Girls state quarter final game will be held at Menchville High School on June 10 at 7 p.m.
