In honor of Computer Science Education Week, the Student Help Desk hosted “Hour of Code,” a nationwide initiative to introduce students to coding, computer science, and computer programming.

The event took place on April 23 and 24 in the Library during It’s Academic and One Lunch. Staff members were encouraged to bring their children to school on April 25 and take them to the event during planning blocks and One Lunch.

Activities ranged from beginner to advanced. Some activities included Raspberry Pi, Ozobot Robot, mini-drones, and video game-style coding tutorials.

Students seemed to appreciate the event and had fun.

“I really liked learning about the robotics because I’m into that stuff,” said freshman Tyler Verhalen. “I want to be a mechanic, so this helped me.”
