Freshmen Anna Lewis, Emilia McFarland, Acelyn Juhas and Naysa Doan flood bins with gently used shoes for Soles4Souls. Founders Week is full of reminders to be an upstanding member of the Ocean Lakes community.

From Feb. 26 to March 1, 2024, students could donate gently used shoes to Soles4Souls.

Soles4Souls is a non-profit organization that collects donations of shoes and clothing for people living in poverty.

According to soles4souls.org, their partners around the world help them to relieve the financial burden of people everywhere.

“Soles4Souls distributes the donated items to various programs worldwide to help those in need,” said Principal Dr. Claire LeBlanc. “Items are repurposed to provide relief or to help create jobs through the selling of clothes or shoes in developing countries.”

During Founder’s Week, students and faculty were encouraged to act as upstanders by donating pairs of shoes at every Founder’s Week presentation. The collection for shoes is continuing through the week of March 4, 2024.
