Class of 2024 competes in the long-awaited, annual game of senior assassin

Senior Jack Hancock expresses his disappointment after being eliminated by senior Daved Holloway on April 8, 2024.

This year, 77 students in the Class of 2024 have chosen to participate in four rounds of the annual senior assassin game.

Players must use low-pressured water weapons to eliminate their assigned targets at the beginning of each round. During the game, certain objects or actions can be performed to give players immunity from being eliminated, whether it be wearing a clown nose or pool floaties.

Entry into the game costs $10, and the players compete for a prize of $700 if they win, $50 if they get second place, $20 for most eliminations and $20 for most assists.

“Senior year is filled with immense stress for seniors, whether it be college or graduation, and I feel as if senior assassin is a game that they can use to let go of all of that stress,” said junior and senior assassin coordinator Anna Brown. “It is a fun game that they can play to get out of the house and possibly win a prize.”

Signups began on March 25 and ended on March 29, with the game officially beginning on April 8. Although the fourth and last round starts on May 21, the game only ends when there is one player left.

“I decided to participate because it is a game I have been looking forward to since freshman year and love the competitive aspect of it,” said senior Madison Anton. “The cash prize was also very enticing.”
