With this season’s game opener approaching on Sept. 6, the Dolphins are prepared for what it will hold. Head coach James Yeager has these boys training on and off the field.
“We prepared great over the off-season. I believe we can go 10-0 and beat everyone in the district if we take every game one at a time,” said senior, starting linebacker William “Boogie” Raines.
The Dolphins had two successful scrimmages in the preseason: one against Poquoson High School, and the other against Hickory High School. Over the summer, the players trained at OneLife with coach Eli, an Ocean Lakes alumni.
“The intensity from training at OneLife helped us mentally and physically become stronger for this upcoming season,” said senior, starting left tackle and defensive end Josiah Lloyd.
With last season’s record being 4-6, preventing them from playing in the playoffs, they did lots of conditioning over the off-season. Both offense and defense have improved since last year.
“With the senior class leaving that had a strong core of players, the new young group of underclassmen are contributing in a big way,” said head coach James Yeager. “Offense is going to be more explosive than in years past and defense looks to continue the tradition of being top tier.”
