Ocean Lakes sophomores show off their artistic talents at a merchandise design contest to start off the year.
Hosted by the Class of 2027, the competition ran from Sept. 9 to Sept. 19, 2024. The class executive board selected the winner on Sept. 20.
The contest allowed sophomores to create a design for the class merchandise, which includes t-shirts, hoodies and crewnecks. The winner received a free t-shirt with their logo.
“The merchandise design contest displays the Class of 2027’s art skills,” sophomore and executive board member Shrihan Mishra said. “It makes the merchandise unique to the class itself.”
Participants applied their knowledge in Canva to make a design, while others created hand-drawn sketches.
Sophomore and executive board member Eeshan Desai agreed that the merchandise idea was terrific.
“I think the merchandise design contest idea is great,” Eeshan said.
As the class looks towards the future, Class of 2027 President Raizel Dino hopes to host Tropical Smoothie and Chick-fil-A fundraisers.
“Some unique ideas I thought were interesting include collaborating with Girl Scouts to sell cookies and a tropical smoothie fundraiser,” Raizel said. “Right now though, we are set on a Chick-fil-A fundraiser next month.”
