Grab-and-go is back to school and has granted students the option to order lunch before One Lunch.
The “grab-and-go lunch” alternative returned on Nov. 10, with many students taking advantage of the returning opportunity.
“It reduces the time in which students can get their lunch by six to seven minutes,” junior Bisaj Shrestha said.
Grab-and-go was brought back by school administrators Dorothy Neal and Michele Clark to deal with the large lines of students waiting to buy food during One Lunch, or to simply get their lunch quicker.
“[Grab-and-go lunch] helps the school by reducing how crowded the cafeteria is,” junior Eeshan Desai said.
To be able to use this option, students must fill out a google form posted on the Canvas Homepage every Monday. The form is at 9 a.m the day a person decides to use grab-and-go lunch. It consists of questions involving which day they are picking up their lunch, and the available lunch options that they can choose from.
Many use the grab-and-go lunch system to order lunch and reserve a table in the cafeteria to quicken their lunch process, while others decided to utilize it to get to their club meetings before the warning bell.
“[I used grab-and-go lunch because] I needed to get my food quickly before going to a meeting,” Eeshan said.
In addition, students with off-blocks use this option to get their lunch so they can leave earlier.
To get their grab-and-go lunch, one must pick up the reserved lunch near room 115 during the first 10 minutes of One Lunch.
A student’s lunch account will be charged at the moment they place their lunch order in the google form, regardless of if they picked up their lunch or not.
“I feel like [grab-and-go lunch] is more convenient because while you have to wait some time, it is a much shorter wait,” Eeshan said.
